Why a Baby Nappy Caddy is a Must-Have for Newborns
If you're preparing for your baby's arrival, a nappy caddy is an absolute newborn essential. With newborns needing 10-12 changes a day, the last thing you want is to be running up and downstairs every time they need a fresh nappy! Having a portable changing station in key areas such as your living room and bedroom, makes those frequent nappy changes quicker and easier, especially during night feeds.
Here’s exactly what you need to include in your nappy caddy:
✅ Nappy Caddy Basket
First things first. You need a nappy caddy. I picked up a simple grey caddy from Home Bargains for around £2.50. There are plenty of options available online, including personalised caddies if you want something extra special! Previously, I used a white wicker basket, but I much prefer this caddy, it has compartments for easy organisation and keeps everything neat and accessible.
✅ Nappies & Wipes
An obvious must-have for your caddy. Keep it topped up with nappies, baby wipes and nappy bags for quick changes.
✅ Mini Changing Mat
No caddy is complete without one of our Bobbin and Bumble Travel Changing Mats. We have so many gorgeous designs! With my first baby, I used a towel, but as soon as the cold air hits, babies often do a wee mid-change, and a towel does nothing to protect the surface below! Our waterproof, wipe-clean, and padded mini mats are a game-changer for quick, mess-free changes anywhere.
✅ Nappy Cream
We don't want any sore bums 🍑
✅ Soft Elephant Rattle
A cute little baby toy isn’t essential as first, but in a couple of months, it will be great to keep baby entertained during changes. You could also add a teether or comforter.
✅ Hand Sanitiser
I keep hand sanitiser dotted all over the house, and having one in the nappy caddy means I can quickly freshen up after a change without having to leave the room.
✅ Muslin Cloths
You can never have too many muslins! Keeping a couple in the caddy makes them easy to grab for feeds, spills, or quick clean-ups.
✅ Spare Outfits
I always pack a couple of spare vests and sleepsuits because, let’s be honest, babies don’t stay clean for long! Having extra outfits within reach saves me from running upstairs every time there’s a poosplosion.
Let me know in the comments if there's anything else that's good to have in your nappy caddy! I've also a Youtube video of what to pack in your nappy caddy.
