Our Story

Hello, and thank you for stopping by! I’m Emma—a mum, wife, and founder of Bobbin and Bumble, based in Yorkshire. I’m proud to say that Bobbin and Bumble is the home of the original IKEA highchair accessories in the UK. 

Bobbin and Bumble began in 2016 with one simple idea. After buying the IKEA ANTILOP highchair for my daughter, Robyn, I found the cotton insert impractical for messy mealtimes. I searched everywhere for a stylish, wipeable cover, only to discover no one had created one yet. So, I decided to make it myself—even though I’d never sewn before! Armed with a £5 sewing machine from a car boot sale and some help from my mum, I got to work.

 

In March 2016, I made my first highchair cover, followed by a splash mat for Robyn. Soon, I started sharing photos online, and people began asking where to buy one. Encouraged by the response, I listed the covers on Etsy, and Bobbin and Bumble was born!

As for the name, “Bobbin” came from a nickname I gave Robyn, and “Bumble” just seemed to fit perfectly alongside it—together, they captured the playful spirit of what I wanted to create.

The journey hasn’t always been easy. In the beginning, I balanced two jobs and full-time motherhood to fund this dream. There were plenty of late nights, hard work, and a few tears, but I’m proud of what I’ve built from my dining table. Today, Bobbin and Bumble has grown into the UK’s go-to shop for IKEA highchair accessories, including Silicone Placemats, Cushion Covers, Footrests and Vinyl Leg Wraps. 

As my family has grown with the addition of my son, Jasper, so has Bobbin and Bumble. Over the years, I’ve expanded my product range to include anti-roll wedge mats, wipeable basket liners, mini changing mats, nappy pouches, hospital bag organisers, and baby blankets—with lots more in the pipeline!
